There is a particular kind of joy in a gathering: the moment when everyone you love is finally in one room. I wanted this painting to hold that feeling.

At its center, two tall forms rise side by side, one in deep indigo, the other in warm rose and terracotta. They stand together with quiet certainty, and around them the composition gathers in: lavender and blush, spring green and coral, small luminous whites drawing close like friends leaning in to witness something tender.

As I painted, I let the layers stay visible, with translucent passages where earlier marks show through, much the way a shared history lives beneath every celebration. Nothing is rigidly placed. The shapes drift, overlap, and settle into harmony on their own terms, and that is exactly where I found the heart of this piece.

We Are Gathered Here Today carries warmth and luminous energy, equally at home in a classic interior with moulding and heirloom textiles or in a serene, minimal space where its color can fully speak. To me, it is a painting about belonging, about love made visible, and about the beauty of being surrounded by the people who matter most.
